One Way Mirror Window Film Sydney
Mirror-finish window film that lets you see out while people outside see their reflection during the day. Strong daytime privacy, less heat and less glare, installed across Sydney.

What Is One Way Mirror Film?
One way mirror film, also called one way window film, mirror tint or reflective privacy film, is a metallised film applied to the inside of your glass. From outside it looks like a mirror. From inside you still see out clearly.
It works because of light. Whichever side of the glass is brighter sees a mirror, and the darker side sees through. During the day it is brighter outside, so passers-by see a reflection while you keep your view.
At night the effect reverses. When your lights are on and it is dark outside, people can see in. Use curtains or blinds at night, or choose blackout or frosted film where you need privacy around the clock.
- Day Privacy
- Outside sees a mirror, inside sees the view, as long as it is brighter outside.
- Heat Rejection
- Reflective films reject the most solar heat of any film type, up to 77% with Silver 20.
- Glare & UV
- Cuts glare on screens and blocks more than 99% of UV rays.
- Finishes
- From a full silver mirror to a softer dual-reflective look that is less mirrored inside.

One Way Mirror Films We Install
All figures are official Solar Gard data on 6mm clear glass. Lower visible light means more privacy and a darker room. Higher exterior reflectance means a stronger mirror from outside.

|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solar Gard Silver 20 | Full mirror both sides | 16% | 57% | 58% | 77% |

Visible light = visible light transmission (VLT). Heat rejected = total solar energy rejected (TSER).
- Solar Gard Silver for the strongest mirror and heat rejection
- Solar Gard TrueVue for a mirror outside with a softer, clearer view inside
- Solar Gard Sterling for a subtle silver finish that keeps rooms bright
Does One Way Film Work At Night?
No window film gives one way privacy at night with the lights on inside. The film simply shows a mirror to whichever side is brighter.
If you need privacy day and night, the options are frosted film (light comes in, no view either way) or blackout film (no light, no view).
- Frosted window film for day and night privacy with natural light
- Blackout window film in black or white for total privacy
One Way Film For Homes
Street-facing windows, front doors, sliding doors and windows that face a neighbour are the most common jobs. You get privacy during the day without closing the blinds, and the house stays noticeably cooler.
Some strata schemes and councils limit highly reflective glass. If you are in a strata building, check the by-laws first. TrueVue gives a softer look if a full mirror is not allowed.

One Way Film For Offices & Shops
Ground floor offices, clinics and reception areas use one way film so staff can see out while the street cannot see screens or desks.
Mirror film also gives a building a uniform facade and cuts air conditioning load on west-facing glass.

Frequently asked questions
How does one way window film work?
It is a reflective film. The brighter side of the glass sees a mirror and the darker side sees through. During the day it is brighter outside, so people outside see a reflection and you see out.
Does one way mirror film work at night?
No. At night, with the lights on inside, the inside is brighter, so people outside can see in. Use curtains or blinds at night, or choose frosted or blackout film for privacy around the clock.
What is the best one way window film for a house?
For the strongest privacy and heat rejection, Solar Gard Silver 20 or TrueVue 15. TrueVue looks like a mirror outside but is less reflective inside, so the view out is clearer and the room feels less mirrored in the evening.
Is mirror tint the same as one way film?
Yes. Mirror tint, one way mirror film, one way privacy film and reflective window film all describe the same type of metallised film.
Can one way film go on double glazed windows?
Sometimes. Reflective films raise the temperature of the glass, which can be a risk on some double glazed units, tinted glass and large panes. We check your glass before recommending a film.
Does one way film reduce heat?
Yes. Reflective films reject the most solar heat of any film type. Solar Gard Silver 20 rejects 77% of total solar energy on 6mm clear glass.
